![]() The calyx has five spatulate, hairy parts, and the corolla is broadly bell-shaped, about 3/8 in (1 cm) long. The inflorescence is composed of branching, scorpioid cymes, large enough to be quite showy. Those at the base may be up to 4 in (10 cm) long, and the stem leaves are gradually reduced. Leaves are mostly linear-oblong and coarsely notched, but there is considerable variation is size and form. The herbage is glandular-hairy and strongly scented.
